About our newsletters

The First Newsletter was published in September 2006
The editorial of the first FERSI newsletter introduces the aim of the newsletter itself. It is explained that the newsletter is intended to better communicate the objectives and activities of FERSI and its member institutes. FERSI, its action plan, priorities, and organisational structure are laid down. The National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC), the Portuguese representative in FERSI, is the first institute to be presented in the newsletter. This Portuguese public institution basically performs applied research in the field of civil engineering. It is a governmental body, with its own legal standing under the Ministry for Public Works, Transports and Communications. The second FERSI member to be introduced is the French national Institute for transport and safety research (INRETS). INRETS represents the vice-chairman in FERSI. The various research programmes performed at this institute are characterised by the multidisciplinary approach. Finally the SafetyNet project is introduced. The results of the first conference ‘European Accident Data and Road and Vehicle Safety Policy’ are reported, followed by a brief report of the accompanying workshops.

The second Newsletter was published in May 2007
The editorial of the second FERSI newsletter discusses the FERSI Endorsed Projects (approved and to-be approved) and explains the procedure to be followed. Further, the content of the Seventh Framework Programme relevant to FERSI is presented. Denmark is represented in FERSI by the Danish Transport Research Institute (DTF). As DTF recently has merged with the Technical University of Denmark, the institute introduces itself in this newsletter. As the Austrian Road Safety Board (KfV), also member of FERSI, recently has given itself a new profile, the new corporate design, new premises and redefined functional structures are explained. Finally the RiPCORD-iSEREST project (6th FP) is briefly introduced and the results of the first conference are presented.
